We are seeking an experienced Fire Door Remediation & Maintenance Operative to carry out fire door inspection, maintenance, repair and remedial works across large-scale residential refurbishment and fire safety projects in Salford. The work is ongoing for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will have proven experience working with fire doors and must be confident carrying out remedial works in accordance with BM TRADA Q-Mark repair techniques, manufacturer test evidence and relevant fire door standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and assess existing fire doors, identifying defects and required remedial works.
  • Complete fire door maintenance and remedial works to the required specification and standard.
  • Carry out door and frame adjustments, including gap, alignment and fit adjustments.
  • Repair and replace fire door components, including hinges, closers, locks, handles and other ironmongery.
  • Install and replace intumescent and smoke seals where required.
  • Repair damaged door leaves, frames and associated components where appropriate.
  • Ensure fire doors operate correctly and meet the required fire safety requirements following remedial works.
  • Complete QA checks and accurately record all works undertaken.
  • Identify and report additional defects, variations or works outside the agreed scope to the Contracts Manager or Supervisor.
  • Work safely and comply with all site health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area and ensure tools and equipment are maintained appropriately.
  • Work professionally within occupied residential properties, minimising disruption to residents.
  • Liaise effectively with site management and other trades to ensure works are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, approved repair techniques and relevant fire door standards at all times.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in fire door remediation and maintenance.
  • Experience working to BM TRADA Q-Mark repair techniques and manufacturers' test evidence.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience undertaking fire door remedial works within residential developments.
  • Knowledge of fire door inspection, maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Experience completing fire door QA inspections and documentation.
  • Experience using Bolster Systems, Asite or similar QA applications.
  • Knowledge of fire-rated door hardware, intumescent products, smoke seals and associated components.
  • Experience working to manufacturer specifications and recognised fire door standards.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Valid CSCS card.

Desirable

  • FIRAS certification.
  • FDIS certification.
  • Additional fire door inspection, installation or maintenance qualifications.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced fire door specialist with strong carpentry and joinery skills, excellent attention to detail and a thorough understanding of fire door compliance and remedial works. You should be able to work independently, accurately document completed works and communicate professionally with supervisors, site management, other trades and residents.
