An established social housing contractor is looking to appoint a Project Manager to oversee retrofit and decarbonisation projects across occupied residential properties. The business delivers refurbishment, capital investment works, retrofit, decarbonisation, regeneration and new build projects on behalf of major social housing providers across the region. Their work focuses on improving homes, reducing carbon emissions and supporting residents through safer, warmer and more energy-efficient living environments. This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager with experience in social housing, planned works, refurbishment, retrofit or occupied property works to join a growing contractor with a meaningful pipeline of energy improvement schemes.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of social housing retrofit and decarbonisation projects from planning through to completion. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day delivery of retrofit and decarbonisation works across occupied social housing properties
- Overseeing programmes involving energy efficiency upgrades, insulation, windows, doors, roofing, ventilation and associated improvement works
- Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and resident liaison teams
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards
- Working closely with clients, housing providers, consultants and internal delivery teams
- Managing programme progress, reporting, risk, site issues and project performance
- Ensuring strong communication with residents throughout the works
- Supporting compliance with health and safety, quality and environmental requirements
- Reviewing project information, drawings, surveys and specifications
- Attending client meetings and providing clear updates on programme, performance and delivery
- Helping to ensure works improve energy performance, reduce carbon emissions and enhance residents’ living conditions
The Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally have experience delivering projects within social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment, retrofit, decarbonisation or occupied residential environments. You may currently be working as a Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Site Manager, Senior Site Manager or Delivery Manager within a contractor, social housing provider or regeneration business. Experience in any of the following would be highly beneficial:
- Social housing refurbishment
- Planned works / capital investment works
- Retrofit and decarbonisation schemes
- External wall insulation / internal wall insulation
- Windows and doors
- Roofing
- Ventilation upgrades
- Energy efficiency improvement works
- Occupied property works
- Resident liaison-led projects
- PAS 2030 / PAS 2035 environments
Key Requirements
- Previous experience managing construction, refurbishment or retrofit projects
- Strong understanding of occupied social housing environments
- Ability to manage site teams, subcontractors and client relationships
- Good programme management and reporting skills
- Strong health and safety awareness
- Commercial awareness and ability to support budget control
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when working around residents
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a live housing environment
- Full UK driving licence
