I'm currently working with a well-established contractor who is looking to bring an experienced Site / Setting Out Engineer on board for a long-term project on the West Coast of Scotland. This role offers excellent continuity of work on a well-run site and would suit an engineer looking for a stable, long-duration contract.
The Role:
You will be responsible for the accurate setting out of works on site and supporting the delivery team to ensure the project is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and plans, and carry out accurate setting out using appropriate surveying equipment.
- Ensure all setting-out information is clearly communicated to subcontractors and that works are completed in accordance with drawings and tolerances.
- Monitor subcontractor activities on site, checking line, level, and alignment as works progress.
- Maintain a strong focus on Health & Safety, ensuring site activities are carried out in compliance with company procedures and statutory regulations.
- Keep detailed and accurate site records, including daily diaries, as-built information, and progress reports.
- Identify and report any technical issues, discrepancies, or delays to the Senior Engineer and Site Agent.
- Assist with general engineering and site management duties as required to support project delivery.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer on construction or civil engineering projects.
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Competent using setting-out equipment (e.g. total station, GPS).
- Good understanding of site Health & Safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider site team.
- Valid CSCS card (essential).
