Ready to take full ownership of procurement for a growing, fast-paced civil engineering and fencing contractor? Our client is a thriving contractor, delivering vital infrastructure projects across Scotland. Due to a significant increase in workload, we are looking to appoint a buyer on a full-time basis. This is an office-based role in Clydebank. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a brand-new role, shape our procurement processes from the ground up, and become a key player in our close-knit, lively team.

As main buyer, you will manage the entire purchasing function for the business. Your daily focus will be sourcing materials and managing supply chains for our core sectors: civils (primarily access roads - no residential groundworks) and commercial fencing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all procurement for materials, plant hire, and fencing supplies across the business.
  • Transition our PO system from Excel to QuickFiles, streamlining the process for the whole team.
  • Negotiate best rates and build strong relationships with key suppliers and merchants.
  • Collaborate closely with site teams and management to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Manage sub-contractor procurement, particularly for major projects.

About You

We are looking for a proactive, organized procurement professional who loves variety and isn't afraid to take charge of a system rollout.

Experience:

  • Proven track record as a Buyer within civil engineering, utilities or fencing sectors.
  • Tech-Savvy: Strong Excel skills and experience implementing or using digital purchasing/accounting systems (QuickFiles experience is a major plus, but training will be given).
  • Commercially Minded: Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure the best value without compromising on quality or deadlines.
  • Team Player: Someone who thrives in a collaborative, communicative environment.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary: Up to Β£45,000 (depending on experience)
  • Perks: Generous Car Allowance & Company Pension Scheme
  • Time Off: 32 days annual leave
  • Stability: A secure, full-time role in a financially robust turnover business
