I am recruiting for an established Tier 1 construction business on a new Prison scheme near Newton Abbot. The company is recognised as one of the best in the market in terms of training, development, career opportunities and employment packages, making it an ideal place to grow and develop both your talent and construction knowledge.
The project involves a long-term redevelopment of an existing prison facility, including elements of new build and refurbishment works alongside complex M&E packages, groundworks, and civil engineering works.
Your duties will include:
- Working with the estimating and bid teams to firm up prices and costs for each package based on the initial bids.
- Compiling a working scope of works and bill of quantities for each package.
- Collaborating with the supply chain to establish how each phase will be delivered.
- Placing orders and arranging pre-start meetings.
- Managing the scheme in conjunction with the delivery team.
- Carrying out standard QS roles such as valuations, payments, remeasures, managing variation accounts, CVRs, and weekly/monthly reporting and forecasting through to final account.
- Managing a small team on site.
The role also involves working with the pre-construction teams and directors at contract award stages to focus on procurement and initial cost planning before taking the packages on site. You will manage site financial matters such as payments, valuations, variation accounts, CVRs, forecasting, and planning multiple projects while overseeing junior members of the team.
An important part of the company's success has been developing their staff. You will have the opportunity to manage your day and workloads to best suit your skills and talents within an agreed framework, with full autonomy to make decisions that benefit the project and business. Additionally, you will help train and develop junior and trainee members of the team.
This is a great company to join, with plenty of work in the pipeline, an established workforce, and a trusted supply chain along with clients who value their services. If you have experience working for a Tier 1 or 2 business or an established main contractor and wish to work locally on a range of projects where you can make a real difference and be appreciated for your efforts, then this is the job for you.
Randstad CPE values diversity and promotes equality. We encourage and welcome applications from all sections of society and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments and/or additional arrangements as required to support your application. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
