A leading specialist contractor in tunnelling and civil engineering solutions is looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor for their project in Bridgwater. They have been involved in some of the UK\’s largest infrastructure projects, earning the reputation of being one of the UK\’s largest specialist tunnelling subcontractors with a yearly turnover of over £100m.
The selected candidate will ideally have a background working for Tier 1 or Principal contractors on complex/high-value infrastructure projects. Experience within tunnelling, heavy civils, enabling works, sub-structures, or related fields could make this opportunity suitable for you.
Some of your duties will include:
- Preparation of internal commercial reports and other necessary documentation
- Preparation of valuations/applications for payment with supporting documentation in line with the contract
- Preparation of cost reports to the client with contract-compliant supporting documents
- Management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
- Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts, including requisitions, monitoring, payments, and final accounts
- Contract administration, change management, and register maintenance
- Identification of commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change
- Utilisation of the costing system
To be successful in this role, the Senior Quantity Surveyor must have:
- Relevant industry qualification
- Commercial awareness with knowledge of standard contracts and measurement methods
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication skills, including presentations, negotiation, and persuasion abilities
- Experience in the construction/engineering industry with a commercial focus
- Experience in heavy civils, tunnelling, enabling works, or general civils
- At least 5 years of QS experience, with a minimum of 2 years as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
