Project Overview

We are seeking a Senior Engineer for a major highway project in Norwich. This is a long‑term contract position requiring a highway specialist to take technical ownership of a major section of works. Lodge accommodation or a daily lodge allowance is fully paid for by the client. This role balances technical management and leadership, as you will be responsible for managing two site engineers while maintaining a high level of quality assurance across the scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Management: Supervise and mentor two site engineers, checking their setting-out, data uploads, and daily records.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead the QA process for the section, managing the ITPs, checking material certifications, and ensuring all work meets National Highways specifications.
  • Engineering Control: Oversee the technical compliance of earthworks, drainage, pavement, or structural packages.
  • Design & RFIs: Review construction drawings, resolve technical queries, and raise RFIs to the design team early to prevent site delays.
  • As‑Builts: Manage the final sign‑off and collation of as‑built data for handover documentation.

Requirements

  • Highway Experience: Heavy highway or major roadworks experience is essential.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, support, and direct junior or site engineers.
  • QA Expertise: Strong background in managing rigorous quality assurance systems and closing out ITPs.
  • Education: HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card. SSSTS or SMSTS is highly desirable.

  • Payment Options: LTD or CIS available.
  • Lodge: Fully funded accommodation/allowance provided for travelers.
  • Timeline: Long‑term contract security.
