Position Type: 6 Months
Work Schedule: 8-12 hour shifts (depending on rota), Monday to Friday with additional overtime as required by production schedules.
The primary function of the Manufacturing Operator I is to execute the day-to-day production process in a highly controlled, fast-paced cleanroom environment. You will closely follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instruction Documents, and technical drawings to manage medical device assembly, materials handling, and packaging of finished goods. All duties are performed in strict accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual Assembly: Manually assemble specialized medical-grade tubing, connectors, and fluid bags according to precise customer requirements and blueprints.
- Technical Compliance: Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, using tools like tape measures to ensure product accuracy.
- Quality & Inspection: Perform rigorous visual checks on both in-process and completed products; expedite defects immediately to maintain a high-quality output.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and record operational paperwork in absolute compliance with strict GMP standards.
- Process Improvement: Actively participate in team-based Lean Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives to drive safety, efficiency, and quality.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Cleanroom Protocol: Comfortable working inside a controlled cleanroom environment with low ambient noise.
- Strict Gowning: Required to wear comprehensive cleanroom garments daily (including gloves, hair/beard nets, face covers, and safety glasses). No makeup or jewelry is permitted on the production floor.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, reach, bend, stoop, and move about for extended periods (8-12 hours per shift).
- Manual Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination with the ability to perform repetitive hand tool operations requiring forceful gripping, pushing, and pulling.
- Lifting: Capabilities to infrequently lift and manipulate components weighing up to 50 lbs max unassisted.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working in a similar fast-paced processing, assembly, or manufacturing industry.
- Proven ability to interpret and carefully follow written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Strong manual dexterity and hand coordination for repetitive task execution.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with basic computer literacy.
- Solid basic mathematical skills.
