We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sub Agent to lead and control a key section of a significant infrastructure project located near Penrith. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a 2.5KM highway and roadworks project, managing a dedicated team of section engineers, site engineers, and apprentices to ensure efficient delivery of works.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Take overall responsibility for the construction works, ensuring that all activities align with project schedules and business objectives.
  • Health, Safety & Environment: Maintain a relentless focus on Zero Harm. Review method statements and risk assessments, lead accident investigations, and ensure all site activities comply with rigorous safety standards, including confined space and hot works permits.
  • Team Management: Motivate and mentor your team, monitoring performance and providing coaching to ensure the development of technical skills across all levels.
  • Commercial & Subcontractor Oversight: Proactively manage subcontractors, track budget versus value, and maintain precise records to support commercial recovery and overall project viability.
  • Quality Assurance: Exercise ownership of the handover process, ensuring all documentation is submitted accurately and in accordance with project specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Current driving license and valid CSCS card are essential.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification required.
  • Strong experience in highways, earthworks, drainage, or structures.
  • Proven ability to produce resourced stage programmes and monitor KPI compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills with a solution-oriented approach to complex engineering challenges.

What We Offer:

  • Schedule: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Compensation: Competitive rate of £450 - £500 per day (Inside IR35).
  • Project Duration: An immediate start is required, with the project running until 30/09/2026.
