About the Client

Our client is a well-established, leading main contractor operating across the UK and Ireland. Known for delivering major, multi-sector building and civil engineering schemes, they hold key positions on major framework agreements and pride themselves on a collaborative, innovation-led work culture.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to manage the technical site function for high-value construction projects in the Oxford region. You will lead the site engineering team, manage subcontractors, and work closely with senior management to oversee earthworks, groundworks, structural steel, cladding, and drainage packages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Site Engineers, overseeing performance reviews and training plans.
  • Technical Quality & Compliance: Review technical drawings, enforce RAMS, and develop and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) to maintain strict quality standards.
  • Setting Out & Surveys: Oversee setting out accuracy within specified tolerances and commission required external surveys.
  • Temporary Works: Lead the scope and execution of temporary works schemes in line with company safety procedures.
  • Programming & Progress: Monitor project milestones, chair subcontractor progress meetings, and report risks to senior management.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree, HND, or equivalent in Civil Engineering / Construction.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Senior Engineer role.
  • Strong background in groundworks, earthworks, and steel-framed construction.
  • Proven experience setting out large-scale contracts.
  • Valid SMSTS certification and full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience with concrete structures (e.g., slipform / jumpform).
  • Proficiency with field software such as Fieldview or 4P Viewpoint.
  • Valid First Aid certification.
