Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee the Section 278 works associated with a new care home development in Henfield. This is a 6-month contract focused on the highway modifications, site access, and external infrastructure required for the project. We need a site-based manager who understands the specific demands of S278 delivery, including tight coordination with the local authority, managing live traffic interfaces, and driving subcontractors to hit handover deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- S278 Delivery: Manage the day-to-day construction of highway access, kerbing, footways, and associated drainage or services.
- Subcontractor Management: Lead on-site groundworks and surfacing gangs to ensure production levels and quality meet standards required for adoption.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for local highways inspectors and streetworks teams.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict health and safety standards on site, ensuring full compliance with RAMS and Chapter 8 traffic management requirements.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate site diaries, track progress against the 6-month programme, and handle technical queries.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven track record managing Section 278 highway schemes or major external works packages.
- Certifications: SMSTS, First Aid, and a valid CSCS card are mandatory. An NRSWA (Streetworks) Supervisor ticket is highly preferred.
- Leadership: Strong communication skills with the ability to manage subcontractor performance and maintain positive relationships with local authority inspectors.
