Project Overview

We are seeking a competent Site Engineer to handle the setting out and engineering control for Section 278 works on a care home development in Henfield. This is a 6‑month contract covering highway realignments, new access infrastructure, drainage, and kerbing. You will be the lead technical presence on the ground, ensuring all works are delivered precisely to design specifications and local authority adoption standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting Out: Accurate setting out of all S278 infrastructure including road levels, kerb lines, footways, and drainage networks.
  • Quality Control: Establish and manage ITPs, conduct pre‑pour/pre‑surfacing checks, and compile accurate As‑Built surveys for final adoption handover.
  • Technical Support: Interpret drawings, identify design clashes early, and manage RFIs between the site team and consulting engineers.
  • Subcontractor Liaison: Work closely with the Site Manager and groundworks/surfacing gangs to ensure technical compliance and smooth delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven track record as a Site Engineer on Section 278, Section 38, or highway infrastructure projects.
  • Equipment: Must be fully proficient with modern robotic total stations and GPS kit.
  • Education: HNC, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card. Any safety tickets (SSSTS/SMSTS) are advantageous.

  • Payment Options: CIS or LTD company options available.
  • Timeline: 6-month contract starting this June.
