The Role
As an Estimator, you will be the backbone of the commercial strategy. You won't just be "crunching numbers" – you'll be a key collaborator, working closely with bid managers, designers, and supply chain partners to create winning solutions.
Your Key Responsibilities
- First-Principle Estimating: Manage and prepare tenders from first principles, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Bid Leadership: Coordinate and challenge input from the wider team, including procurement, engineering, and commercial departments.
- Supply Chain Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors to secure the best market rates and innovative solutions.
- Risk & Opportunity: Identify, assess, and manage project risks while highlighting value-engineering opportunities.
- Handovers: Deliver comprehensive tender handovers to the project delivery teams to ensure a seamless transition from 'won' to 'built'.
About You
We are looking for someone who is technically sharp but also a great communicator.
Experience: Proven track record as an Estimator within a main contractor environment (Tier 1 or Tier 2).
Knowledge: Strong understanding of first-principles estimating and a solid grasp of modern construction techniques and H&S requirements.
Qualifications: Degree educated (preferred) or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
Tech Savvy: Proficient in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Conquest or Causeway).
