The Mission: Putting Safety First

We are currently partnering with a leading housing provider to recruit a Building Safety Manager. In this role, the primary consideration is the safety of our client's customers. As the lead subject matter expert for Health & Safety in Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs), your decisions will have direct implications for the welfare of residents and the financial and regulatory standing of the business.

The Role

You will serve as the first point of contact for all fire and structural safety enquiries regarding the client's HRBs. Leading a dedicated team, you will ensure all buildings are managed and evidenced through robust building safety cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Case Management: Develop and maintain specific Building Safety Case Reports for HRBs and provide information to support applications for Building Assessment Certificates (BAC).
  • Expert Advice: Influence at senior levels and provide expert guidance to all levels within the organisation.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Represent the client with external partners including the HSE, Local Authorities, and Fire and Rescue Authorities.
  • Engagement: Play a leading role in delivering resident engagement strategies for HRBs.
  • The Golden Thread: Work with Asset Management and Development teams to maintain the "golden thread" of information from handover throughout the occupation phase.
  • Reporting: Oversee the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System and manage customer safety-related complaints.

Who You Are

You are a technical leader capable of fostering a culture of high performance and commitment to building safety. You can translate complex technical data for non-technical audiences and have a strong focus on delivering value for residents.

Your Credentials:

  • Education: Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical role.
  • Certifications: Hold at least a Level 4 qualification in fire safety management or asset compliance (e.g., NEBOSH Fire Certificate or Advanced Fire Management Diploma).
  • Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of building design, fire strategies, compartmentation, and building fabric.
  • Experience: Extensive knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements for HRBs and the Building Safety Act.
  • Skills: Experience using digital solutions to monitor performance and excellent written/verbal communication skills for negotiation and consultation.
  • Mobility: Must hold a full valid driving licence and be willing to travel nationally, including occasional nights away from home.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal role managing the client's requirements under the Building Safety Act. You will lead a Building Safety Team Leader and an Officer, ensuring the client's responsibilities are effectively coordinated and evidenced. If you are ready to take on a lead role in a high-stakes safety environment, we would love to hear from you.
