Our client requires a Senior Building Surveyor to be based in their London office with responsibility across the Southwest. This role combines detailed building inspections of high‐rise residential stock, building pathology and defect analysis, report writing, remediation and contract administration, and involvement in project and procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections of high‐rise and low‐rise residential buildings, identifying and documenting defects and structural issues.
- Apply building pathology expertise to diagnose causes of defects and assess their impact.
- Produce clear, concise technical reports with practical remedial recommendations.
- Manage contract administration for remediation works including tender support, procurement and contractor management.
- Lead project tasks to meet fee and quality targets, prioritising workloads and delivering multiple projects concurrently.
- Support new build design and build projects, liaising with Employers Agents and PCSA procurement when required.
- Engage professionally with clients and stakeholders, explaining complex defects and proposed solutions.
- Support resident liaison processes and take minutes at meetings.
- Run remediation and new build residential projects using JCT & D&B and JCT PCSA Projects.
- Mentor Junior Surveyor who will be assisting.
- Travel frequently to sites across the region and maintain accurate records and administration.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying or a construction‐related discipline.
- Relevant professional qualification and membership, ideally RICS (or working towards).
- Demonstrable building pathology experience, particularly with residential properties.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and Fire Safety legislation in England.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with proven report‐writing ability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet fee targets and work autonomously.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Experience of contract administration and procurement for remediation works.
- Experience with new build D&B projects and working alongside Employers Agents.
- Familiarity with inspections of hospitals, schools or other public sector buildings.
- Previous experience working with freeholders, building managers, developers or housing associations.
