This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Assistant Employer’s Agent ready to take the next step in their career or a Built Environment professional (QS / PM / BS background) looking to transition into an EA role.

We are seeking an experienced Employer’s Agent to support our client in delivering high-quality construction projects. This role involves managing JCT Design and Build Contracts and Bespoke Development Agreements across London, home counties and nearby regions. The workload can be tailored to some extent based on geographical preferences.

Responsibilities
  • Project Meeting Leadership: Coordinate and chair project meetings by recording key decisions, outlining action points, and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Site Monitoring: Conduct regular site visits to monitor contractor progress and assess work quality.
  • Valuation and Contractor Management: Organise site valuations, review contractor applications, and issue timely Payment Notices.
  • Contract Administration: Manage contractual adjustments by issuing change instructions and handling project delays, including evaluating extension requests. Prepare and issue all necessary contractual notices, statements, certificates, and manage final accounts. Oversee the Defects Liability period to ensure project standards are met.
  • Proposal Review: Evaluate proposals from contractors, developers, and designers to ensure strict adherence to project requirements.
  • Team Support: Provide assistance on complex projects and contribute to managing peak workload periods, such as coordinating the handover of multiple properties.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Transport & Certification: Must possess a full UK Driver’s Licence and have reliable access to personal transport. Must also hold a Level 6 qualification in a construction-related discipline.
  • Professional Membership/Experience: MRICS or MCIOB qualifications, or have at least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Sector Experience: Experience in UK residential development, with sound knowledge of JCT D&B contracts (both 2016 and 2024 versions). Understanding of development control as well as funding and delivery standards within the housing sector.
  • Core Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to work effectively with colleagues and clients. Keen attention to detail with a proactive, forward-thinking approach to problem solving.
  • Teamwork & Autonomy: Ability to work seamlessly within a team while confidently managing tasks autonomously. Capable of identifying risks and knowing when to escalate issues to senior colleagues.
