CML have an exciting opening for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team at our Head Office in Chapel Allerton, Leeds.

Your Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor at CML, you can expect to be working on projects ranging from £300k to £2.5m, with an average of £600k.

Within the role you can also expect to

  • Develop client relationships by maintaining regular contact and meetings
  • Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets
  • Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements, ensuring all contract correspondence is recorded
  • Supply relevant commercial information and reports to the Senior QS and Commercial Manager for review, such as CVR’s, periodic valuations/ applications and cash flow forecasting.
  • Identify potential financial risks and evaluate options to mitigate these
  • Produce, submit and agree final accounts in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain for the procurement, negotiation and placing of subcontract and supplier orders
  • Oversee the procedures for certification of contract payments/variations and settle final accounts to sub-contractors, in line with agreed terms and conditions

Person Specification

The perfect candidate will have

  • BSc Quantity Surveying (or similar) - Essential
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working within a contracting environment – Essential
  • The ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised – Essential
  • General knowledge of NEC forms of contract – Desirable
  • Experience with Civil Engineering in the Rail Sector - Desirable
  • The ability to manage a fast paced, high volume turnover of orders, with high standards of project performance and customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders
  • An enthusiastic attitude and ability to hit the ground running
  • Prioritises well and works effectively to deadlines
  • High attention to detail
