About this role
Do you have a passion for building relationships and making a difference in the skills landscape of the construction industry? We’re looking for a proactive, people-focused Customer Engagement Advisor to be the face of CITB across Essex and Kent. As our local representative, you’ll engage directly with employers, training providers, and key stakeholders — offering support, sharing insights, and helping businesses tap into the full range of CITB services and initiatives. This is a mobile role with plenty of autonomy, perfect for someone who thrives on variety, collaboration, and making tangible impact in their local area.
What you’ll be doing
- Be the go-to CITB contact for all registered employers in your area
- Provide tailored, expert advice to help employers upskill staff and plan training strategically
- Promote apprenticeships and pre-employment opportunities across the region
- Deliver Training Needs Analyses (TNAs) and sector-specific support to employers
- Actively engage micro and under-engaged businesses to raise awareness of skills support
- Build strategic partnerships with local stakeholders, employer groups, and industry bodies
- Represent CITB at events, meetings, and online — showcasing our full offer and industry insights
- Maintain detailed CRM records and contribute valuable feedback to internal teams
- Collaborate across departments to resolve complex queries and support national initiatives
Your Experience
Essential:
- Excellent planning and time-management skills — able to juggle priorities with ease
- Strong influencing and negotiation ability
- A confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to understand and explain complex information
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across partnerships and stakeholder groups
- A solid understanding of the UK skills landscape, including government-funded programmes
- Educated to A-Level or equivalent (or with relevant practical experience)
Desirable:
- Experience working within or alongside the construction industry
- Familiarity with CITB products, services, or funding routes
- Experience navigating the skills sector, especially in Further Education
- SFEDI Level 5 Certificate in Business Information Services (or willingness to work towards it)
