Role – People Advisor
Location – Peterborough or NCC East, Bircham Newton (Norfolk) – 2 days a week in the office.
Hours of work – Full‑time (35 hours per week). Business operating hours are between 8 am – 6 pm.
Contract – Fixed Term, 9 months.
Target Salary – £42,642 per annum.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first‑line support and expert guidance on employee relations issues, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and contribute to their review, update, and development.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee data within the HRIS (Oracle HCM Cloud), acting as a subject‑matter expert for helpdesk and case management modules.
- Support managers through the full employee lifecycle, offering proactive, solution‑focused advice to enable business‑led decisions.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on HR metrics such as turnover and absence to inform strategic direction.
- Coach and advise line managers on effective people management and practical application of HR policies.
- Contribute to HR initiatives and projects, including employee engagement, wellbeing, and diversity.
- Stay current with employment legislation and HR best practices, managing own caseload to ensure timely and effective outcomes.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent HR experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and proven ability to manage end‑to‑end employee relations cases.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with professionalism and discretion in sensitive situations.
- Ability to coach and influence managers, using initiative and problem‑solving to support effective people management.
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office, with skills in data interpretation and analysis.
Desirable
- Experience working with Oracle HCM Cloud.
- Change management experience.
- Experience in working within a unionised environment.
Other Requirements
- The location of this role is to be either based in our Peterborough or King’s Lynn office.
- Flexibility to travel to other CITB locations when required with reasonable notice given.
- Some anti‑social hours required, usually travel related.
- Expectations of office attendance and travel to fulfil the role will be discussed at interview stage.
