Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing Public Health team at a pivotal moment for both Lincolnshire and local government.

We are seeking an outstanding Consultant in Public Health to join Lincolnshire County Council's Public Health Division and play a key leadership role in improving the health and wellbeing of over 750,000 residents.

Public Health sits within the Adult Care and Community Wellbeing Directorate and leads a broad portfolio spanning health improvement, health protection, healthcare public health and the wider determinants of health.

This appointment also comes at an important time for the county, with Local Government Reorganisation creating opportunities to influence and shape the future public health system across Lincolnshire.

The successful candidate will be well placed to contribute strategic leadership throughout this period of change and help ensure population health remains at the heart of future service delivery.

About the role

As a Consultant in Public Health, you will be a senior leader within both the Public Health Division and the wider organisation.

As a member of the Public Health Senior Leadership Team, you will report directly to the Director of Public Health and work alongside other Consultants, the Assistant Director (Prevention and Early Intervention) and Heads of Service.

  • Providing strategic public health leadership across the Council and wider system.
  • Deputising for the Director of Public Health when required.
  • Leading programmes to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.
  • Influencing policy, commissioning and service transformation.
  • Advising elected members, senior officers and partner organisations.
  • Leading health intelligence, needs assessment and evidence-based decision making.
  • Representing Lincolnshire at local, regional and national levels.

About you

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced public health professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent leadership and partnership-working skills.

You will be able to demonstrate

  • Registration with the GMC, GDC or UKPHR at Consultant level (or be within six months of registration if you are a Public Health Specialty Registrar).
  • A strong track record of improving population health and reducing inequalities.
  • Experience of leading change and influencing complex systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Experience of commissioning, programme leadership and service improvement.

The salary is £98,394 to £108,571 per annum.

Professional Requirements

Applicants must be included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists and meet minimum CPD requirements (i. e. be up to date) in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body.

Public health specialty registrar applicants who are not yet on the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UKPHR must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they are within 6 months of gaining entry at the date of interview.

Applicants going through the portfolio registration routes (GMC or UKPHR) are not eligible to be shortlisted for interview until they are included on the register.

The six-month rule does not apply to these portfolio route applicants.

We operate a talent pool scheme whereby candidates who are not successful on this occasion may be considered for a period of up to 3 months for equal positions.

Fluency Duty
