Construction & Civils Solutions Ltd are seeking a talented Estimator with a Civils or Building background on behalf of a client of ours. Our client is based in South Lanarkshire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and negotiate tender submissions for Civil/Building projects
- Review incoming tenders and assess contract potential
- Conduct measurement and quantity take-off from drawings
- Produce Bills of Quantities
- Source pre-project information and assess subcontractor quotations, agreements, and enquiries
- Build tender pricing from first principles based on scope, plans, specifications, and programme
- Cost planning and preparation of tender reports for adjudication
- Attend pre- and post-contract interviews and client meetings
- Obtain and circulate feedback on submitted bids
- Investigate cost-effective and alternative solutions
- Input data into estimating software
- Maintain awareness of latest estimating techniques and industry standards
- Carry out other related duties as needed
Required Experience:
- Ideally 5+ years of proven estimating experience in Civils or Main Contracting
- HNC or degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering
- Familiarity with various Forms of Contract, including JCT and NEC, and methods of measurement like SMM7 and NRM2
- Experience in Design & Build as well as traditional construction methods
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Microsoft Project or other project planning software
- Knowledge of estimating software
- Site experience is an advantage
