Overview

This role involves installing solar PV (solar panel) systems on domestic and social housing properties across Scotland. You'll work in a three-person team consisting of:

  • A Solar PV Roofer
  • A skilled labourer/apprentice

The focus is on safe, high-quality roof installations that comply with industry standards and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspecting roofs before work begins.
  • Installing the Fastensol mounting system.
  • Fitting solar panels and routing DC cabling.
  • Ensuring roofs remain fully weatherproof.
  • Installing bird protection and finishing accessories.
  • Taking photographic evidence throughout every installation.
  • Completing digital job cards and recording equipment serial numbers.
  • Reporting any design changes or structural issues.
  • Following strict health and safety procedures, especially when working at height.
  • Supervising apprentices or labourers when required.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • SVQ Level 2 Roofing (or equivalent).
  • Blue CSCS card (or higher).
  • Experience installing domestic solar PV systems.
  • Experience working safely at height.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Disclosure Scotland certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable but not essential

  • Experience with MCS-accredited solar installations.
  • Knowledge of Scottish social housing projects.
  • Experience using the Fastensol mounting system.
  • First Aid qualification.
