Construction & Civils Solutions are recruiting a Solar PV Design Engineer to join a leading specialist contractor, with an outstanding award-winning reputation, to support the delivery of solar PV and battery storage programmes across housing association, council and registered social landlord properties throughout Scotland. The role will manage the design process from initial address allocation through to post-installation amendments, primarily using EasyPV.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce solar PV and battery storage designs using survey information
  • Prepare panel layouts, string configurations, inverter selections and battery locations
  • Manage G98 and G99 grid connection submissions to SPEN and SSEN
  • Monitor designs through the pre-installation process and resolve missing survey information
  • Coordinate design outputs with installation programmes
  • Confirm bills of materials and prepare logistics documentation for installation teams
  • Update designs where completed installations differ from the original specification
  • Maintain accurate design, submission and project records
  • Liaise with surveyors, installation teams, housing providers, local authorities and network operators

Candidate requirements

  • Experience using EasyPV or similar solar PV design software
  • Ability to interpret property survey data and produce practical, compliant designs
  • Knowledge of solar PV, battery storage and relevant electrical requirements
  • Understanding of G98/G99 applications and DNO processes would be advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high-volume workload
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Experience working with Scottish social housing properties would be beneficial

Training on EasyPV can be provided where required, with opportunities for continued professional development and industry accreditation.
