About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager from a construction background to join a well-established and growing organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and leading the organisation's health, safety and wellbeing strategy while ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry best practice. Working closely with senior leadership, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective Health & Safety Management System, promoting a positive safety culture, and driving continuous improvement across a diverse operational environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and continual improvement of the organisation's Health & Safety Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK health and safety legislation and recognised industry standards.
  • Manage and maintain ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Develop, review and implement health and safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and driving preventative improvements.
  • Deliver health and safety training, guidance and coaching to managers and employees.
  • Produce performance reports and present key findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Support contractor management processes, including reviewing competence, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Assist with tender, procurement and pre-construction activities by providing health and safety expertise where required.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture throughout the organisation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification).
  • Membership of IOSH, with Chartered status or working towards Chartered Membership being advantageous.
  • Significant experience in a Health & Safety management role.
  • Experience implementing and managing Health & Safety Management Systems.
  • Experience maintaining ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • A strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and practical application.
  • Experience carrying out audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A full UK driving licence.
