Accountant in Castleford

My client is a small growing main contractor delivering large projects in the high and medium rise city centre residential sector, along with mixed use and multi sector project delivery.

Due to their continued success and growth they require an Accounts Manager to join their team based in South East Leeds area.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management: Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.

Xero Accounting: Manage and maintain accurate records in Xero, including reconciliations, VAT returns, and financial reporting.

Subcontractor Payments: Process subcontractor invoices, manage CIS deductions, and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.

Cost Control & Budgeting: Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial forecasts to support the commercial team.

Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets.

Credit Control: Ensure timely invoicing and manage debt collection processes.

Key Skills & Experience

Construction Accounting Experience: Proven experience working in an accounts role within the construction industry.

Xero Expertise: Advanced knowledge and experience using Xero for accounting, reporting, and financial management.

CIS Knowledge: Understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), including deductions and compliance.

Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with the ability to spot financial discrepancies.

Problem-Solving Ability: Ability to manage multiple financial responsibilities and work independently.

Communication Skills: Confident working with contractors, suppliers, and clients to manage financial transactions effectively.

Organisation & Time Management: Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Qualifications

AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or other accounting qualifications (preferred but not essential).

Previous experience in a construction companys finance department.
