Purpose of the role:
- Works directly with the Design Director and/or Creative Director and takes an active lead in projects to develop compelling brand identities and designs.
- Is instrumental in driving creative work forward, while leading, supporting and mentoring more junior members of the design team. Possesses excellent conceptual and presentation skills, captivating and engaging clients.
Responsibilities:
- Creative Input: Develops design concepts from initial research right through to execution.
- Is responsible for the creation of presentation standard visuals.
- Takes responsibility for creative development on projects, ensuring creative output answers the brief.
- Presents concepts internally and is involved directly in client facing meetings, to present creative work or to support Design Directors and Creative Directors in design conversations.
- Drives forward work for delivery and ensuring output is of the highest quality and has impeccable attention to detail.
- Confident handling production and implementation as well as managing production partners and performing quality control.
- Manages and briefs work to third party partners (both print and digital outputs).
- Team Collaboration + Leadership: Leads project teams, working directly with Midweight, Juniors and interns to ensure tasks are evenly distributed and priorities are established.
- Reports to design directors and creative directors and presents ideas and developments at key check-in stages.
- Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment with other team members and other departments; understands requirements and contributes to the overall creative process.
- Inspires, educates and supports junior team members along the journey of a project.
- Skills: Highly proficient in design software (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator (and Figma)), in order to execute projects in the most efficient manner.
- Ability to translate sketches into refined executions of ideas, through to artwork stage.
- Continuously develops presentation skills.
- Confident preparing files for the production team.
- Strong understanding of typography and layout.
- Strong understanding of design for digital output.
- Strong sense of art direction for photography and film is a bonus.
- Administration: Adheres to filing protocol, weekly submission of timesheets and refers to the studio schedule to effectively plan workload and priorities between the team members.
- Construct communication: Contributes to internal comms (credentials, developing case studies, social assets) as required, to support the business development team.
