About the Role
We are looking for a talented and driven Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations in Oxford. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of food production, inspire a team, and deliver high-quality food that enhances our reputation with clients and customers. You will be responsible for planning, organising, and overseeing all food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring exceptional standards of quality, safety, and service. You will also play a key role in driving sales through menu innovation and promotions while maintaining strict cost controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Food & Service Excellence
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality menus aligned with client expectations
- Maintain exceptional food standards, presentation, and consistency
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and COSHH regulations
- Oversee kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards at all times
- Client & Customer Focus
- Build strong relationships with clients and respond to their needs
- Deliver excellent customer service and handle feedback effectively
- Contribute ideas and support initiatives to increase sales and customer satisfaction
- Financial & Operational Management
- Manage food costs through effective portion control, stock management, and waste reduction
- Plan and cost seasonal menus, events, and promotions to meet budget targets
- Control stock levels and ensure ordering is carried out through approved suppliers
- Complete accurate monthly stocktakes and maintain financial accountability
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate, and develop your kitchen team in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure all team members are trained and supported in their roles
- Promote a positive working culture with strong staff engagement
- Manage staffing levels effectively, minimising agency and overtime use
- Health & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Provide training, guidance, and supervision to maintain a safe working environment
- Report and investigate incidents, implementing improvements where necessary
- Maintain up-to-date training records for all team members
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a senior kitchen leadership role
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and food costs
- Passion for food, innovation, and delivering outstanding service
