Do you want to be part of an exciting team of enthusiastic people, working at Oxford University Cafes and Hospitality at their various campus locations? We are currently looking for catering assistants and hospitality waiters to join our team.

Working Hours
Times will vary depending on requirements, but hours are generally Monday to Friday. You can choose shifts you would like to work depending on your availability.

Overview
The Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in line with menu specifications, food safety standards, and customer expectations. This role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and excellence in food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes to the required standards.
  • Assist in menu planning, food preparation, and portion control.
  • Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with food safety regulations (HACCP).
  • Ensure all food is stored, handled, and prepared safely and correctly.
  • Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and assist with stock rotation.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service.
  • Assist with receiving and checking deliveries.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support junior kitchen staff where required and help promote a positive team culture.
  • Adapt to special dietary needs or menu changes as instructed.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen or chef experience (professional or large-scale catering preferred).
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality food production.
  • Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above) is desirable.
