Job
Summary: The role is to take responsibility for the HGV drivers and assist the transport operation in supporting the running of our busy operation.
Ensuring that the warehouse is supplied with trailers to fulfil the load schedule planned.
To assist in managing any breakdowns and issues on or off site with other Constellation Cold Logistics sites to ensure the smooth running of the whole transport operation and assisting in managing VOR’s and maintenance schedules.
This will be working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to statutory regulations governing road haulage.
- Completing a full trailer check, informing warehouse of in-loads that require off-loading.
- Carry out daily vehicle check and vehicle defect reporting.
- Check and report defects of all Fridge electrics.
- Responsible for vehicles and loads Checking Loading/Unloading
- Check, report, and housekeeping of vehicle wash facilities.
- Control of all VOR’s liaising closely with the Controllers.
- Reporting problem with vehicles or load presentation
- Ensure maintenance of required load temperatures and load condition
- Carry out security checks and ensure security of vehicle and load.
- Carry out any other duties as laid down in the current issue of the ‘Driver’s Handbook’.
- Comply with company policies regarding ISO9002, BS7750, Health & Safety and Training.
- Responsibility for controlling own and 3rd party vehicles in and around the Wolverhampton site yard areas
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience driving an HGV
- Relevant licence to drive an HGV.
- Valid driver CPC
- A positive, flexible, can-do attitude
- A keen attention to detail and work accuracy.
- Good verbal communication skills
- Flexibility
- Excellent driving safety record
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office packages
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets
- For insurance purposes you must be 25 years of age or older and have held a licence for a minimum of 2 years.
