We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse based Fine Art Storage Technician to join us based in our newly refurbished state-of-the-art secure facility based in London SE16. The ideal candidate will be an existing Driver Technician, Art Handler or Fine Art Warehouse Technician and will work directly with clients facilitating the secure storage, packing and handling of works of art. The key element of the job is the ability to safely handle, pack and be responsible for often fragile, valuable and unique works of Art, Antiques, heritage and museum objects so a strong background in dealing with Fine Art, Museums or Galleries sectors would be a distinct advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential in this client facing role.

Main responsibilities:

  • Hands on artwork and object handling and packing, loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Work closely with clients in this directly client facing role - always maintaining a professional and calm demeanour in person, over email, phone and radio
  • Handling crates, pallets, soft wrapped objects and objects of all sizes with extreme care and precision
  • Ensure the safe unloading of incoming or loading of outgoing shipments and maintaining the chain of custody whilst adhering to regulations and company policies, such as for GIS, bonded cargo or screened “known” cargo under CAA regulations
  • Make sure all jobs on the Warehouse Management System (LEO) are fully utilised and any movements are logged and recorded correctly in line with company protocols
  • Maintaining and promoting a high level of security and confidentiality at all times
  • Maintaining the warehouse environment to the highest of standards
  • Inventory checking & auditing
  • Assist in the security control room and work with the Security Controller on day-to-day operations.
  • Assist operations by escorting, travelling on or driving vehicles to and from client sites within London.
  • Ensure any chargeable work or services are reported back to Secure Storage Manager
  • Liaise with client co-ordinators when queries arise regarding items received and released, investigating any discrepancies such as size, weight, condition/damage, additional pieces, bond status or packing.
  • Highlight and rectify any errors identified on incoming works such as missing object labels, incorrect or missing paperwork to managers and coordinators
  • Prepare all outgoing deliveries ahead of time in the correct area with correct paperwork
  • Accompanying clients and contractors working in the warehouse
  • Providing clients with excellent customer service in this client facing role
  • Condition checking and reporting of objects, heritage items and works of art
  • Checking and maintaining manual handling equipment and reporting any defects
  • Administrative tasks where required, such as checking transport slips
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

Working Hours:

Flexible hours, 9 hour shift, Monday - Friday. Core hours generally but flexibility is required within the above hours to cover any early or late requirements within operations. Overtime will be required as part of the role.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience
  • High attention to detail
  • Good maths and literacy skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience using a PC/Laptop, Hand Held Terminals and Microsoft IT packages.

Desirable qualifications and licences:

  • Driving licence
  • FLT licence
  • Experience using MHE and MEWPs
