About the Tax Department

The Tax Department provides: Tax audit and assurance services, including reviews of corporation tax and deferred tax positions for statutory audits and group reporting.

Corporation tax compliance for a portfolio of around 80 entities.

Tax advisory services, including corporate tax, VAT, restructuring and tax due diligence.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Tax Senior to join our Tax Department.

This varied role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of UK subsidiaries of major French and international groups, covering tax audit, corporation tax compliance and advisory projects.

Working closely with managers, audit teams and clients, the successful candidate will benefit from a clear career progression path towards Assistant Tax Manager and Tax Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Audit: Review current and deferred tax positions and financial statement disclosures.
  • Tax Audit: Identify potential tax risks and material misstatements.
  • Tax Audit: Prepare draft tax audit reports.
  • Tax Audit: Liaise with audit teams and clients to resolve issues and present findings at audit closing meetings.
  • Corporation Tax Compliance: Prepare corporation tax computations, returns and tax accounting schedules using Alphatax.
  • Corporation Tax Compliance: Prepare tax disclosures for financial statements.
  • Corporation Tax Compliance: Advise clients on tax positions and payment obligations.
  • Corporation Tax Compliance: Prepare i XBRL filings.
  • Corporation Tax Compliance: Manage HMRC correspondence.
  • Corporation Tax Compliance: Provide ad hoc tax advice.
  • People Development: Review work prepared by junior team members.
  • People Development: Deliver training sessions when required.
  • People Development: Provide regular coaching and constructive feedback.

The role also offers opportunities to contribute to a range of tax advisory projects as they arise.

  • Candidate Profile Requirements
  • 2-4 years relevant experience in corporation tax, preferably gained in an accountancy practice.
  • Ideally ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified or finalist.
  • Strong technical knowledge in UK corporation tax and tax accounting, including most aspects of deferred tax issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with tax software.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good IT skills, including the proficient use of both Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Desirable but not essential: Knowledge and experience in other tax areas such as VAT and personal tax.
  • Experience with Alphatax.
  • Experience in preparing i XBRL tagging.
  • French language skills.
