Location: Roseleigh Care Home, Lytton Street

Reports to: The Registered Manager

Job Overview: Prepare menus, serve meals and manage catering operations. Employees may also be required to work from other locations if necessary.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare menus and agree them with service users and the manager, including preferences, special diets, and specific foods.
  • Prepare and serve all meals in a timely manner.
  • Create duty rotas for catering staff, ensuring adequate skilled staff on duty.
  • Order supplies from specified suppliers and maintain control over costs.
  • Operate an efficient stock control system.
  • Ensure supplied equipment is used safely and report faults immediately.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of the service users.
  • Lead, motivate and direct staff, and carry out annual staff appraisals.
  • Assist in recruitment, induction, supervision and development plans for catering staff.
  • Take responsibility for personal and professional development.

Requirements

  • Vocational qualification/HNC/City & Guilds qualification in cookery.
  • Qualifications in texture modified food and in serving moulded food.
  • Proficient writing skills and accurate record keeping.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, storage, temperature control, and budgetary skills.
  • Experience with texture modified diets and working with service users who have additional support needs.
  • Previous supervisory experience and budgetary experience.
  • Ability to communicate, seek feedback, attend meetings, and adapt plans.
