Remote – UK Based £40,000 – £50,000 Basic + Uncapped Commission

Are you confident opening doors with senior decision makers and creating opportunities from scratch? Have you sold managed services, cyber security, software, cloud solutions or technology consultancy? Are you comfortable building your own pipeline rather than relying on a steady stream of marketing-generated leads?

We are recruiting for an established and growing technology consultancy with a team of over 50 people operating across the UK and internationally. They provide Managed IT Services, Security Operations Centre services, AI-powered software and specialist technology consultancy, supporting clients across a broad range of industries.

Having built a strong reputation and established client base through trusted relationships, referrals and successful delivery, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to create a more structured new-business pipeline and support the next stage of growth. This is a hands-on new business role, with the initial focus firmly on identifying opportunities, opening doors and winning new clients. As those relationships develop, you will also have the opportunity to identify further requirements and grow the accounts you have introduced.

You will be selling a varied portfolio, from recurring Managed Service and SOC contracts through to software, consultancy and wider technology projects. You do not need experience across every area. What matters is that you have successfully sold technology services, software or consultancy, understand how to take a consultative approach and can quickly get to grips with new solutions.

The Role

  • Take ownership of developing new business opportunities from initial engagement through to close.
  • Building and maintaining your own new business pipeline.
  • Generating opportunities through networking, referrals, direct outreach and relationship development.
  • Engaging with business owners, Managing Directors, Operations Directors, IT Leaders and other senior stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities across Managed Services, Cyber Security, Consultancy and Software.
  • Understanding the client’s business challenges and identifying where the company’s services can add value.
  • Managing opportunities from initial conversation through to proposal, negotiation and close.
  • Working closely with the founder and technical consultants to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Preparing proposals, presentations and commercial business cases.
  • Representing the business at networking events, industry functions and client meetings.
  • Developing the relationships you introduce and identifying further opportunities within those accounts.
  • Maintaining accurate sales activity and pipeline information within the CRM.

You will work closely with experienced technical consultants, who will support you during discovery meetings and more detailed technical conversations. Your focus will be on opening new relationships, understanding the client’s commercial challenges and managing the opportunity through the sales process.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience selling B2B technology services, software or consultancy.
  • A strong track record of generating new business opportunities.
  • Confidence building your own pipeline and managing your own sales activity.
  • Experience managing the full sales process from initial contact through to close.
  • A consultative approach to sales.
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and decision makers.
  • The ability to understand business challenges and translate them into relevant technology solutions.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas would be particularly relevant: Managed IT Services, Cyber Security or SOC Services, Technology Consultancy, Cloud Solutions, SaaS or Software Platforms, Professional Services, Digital Transformation.

Desirable Experience

  • Selling recurring managed service or cyber security contracts.
  • Selling technology consultancy or professional services projects.
  • Experience within the Microsoft technology ecosystem.
  • AI, Data Platform or SaaS sales experience.
  • Experience selling solutions with meaningful recurring or project-based contract values.
  • An existing network within the SME or mid-market sector.

Commission and Earnings

Attractive, uncapped commission structure designed to reward both recurring revenue and project sales. There will also be increased earning potential for exceeding agreed targets, giving you the opportunity to build strong earnings as the pipeline and client base grow.

Success in This Role

Success in this role will be measured by the quality of the pipeline you build, the new client relationships you create and the revenue you generate, rather than simply the number of calls made or meetings booked. The business has a strong track record of growing client relationships once they are established, giving you the opportunity to develop the accounts you introduce and generate further revenue over time. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technology salesperson who enjoys winning new business, building something from the ground up and playing an important part in the continued growth of a company.
