Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a proactive and organised Talent Acquisition Officer to join our Talent Acquisition team based in Manchester.

About us

We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.

Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.

About you

You’re an experienced recruitment professional who enjoys taking ownership of vacancies and delivering a positive experience for candidates and hiring managers.

You’re confident advising managers, managing competing priorities and keeping recruitment moving in a busy environment.

You understand the importance of safer recruitment and bring practical experience of recruiting colleagues under Ofsted safer recruitment processes.

You’re approachable, thorough and comfortable working independently while contributing to a supportive team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing recruitment campaigns across Housing, from vacancy approval and advertising through to interviews, offers and onboarding.
  • Acting as the main recruitment contact for Housing managers, providing practical advice, regular updates and support with job descriptions, adverts and interview planning.
  • Leading the completion of Ofsted safer recruitment checks, including DBS, right to work, references, employment history, identity and other relevant checks.
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential and auditable records within our applicant tracking system and internal Ofsted trackers, escalating any compliance concerns.
  • Preparing contracts, offer paperwork and onboarding communications, keeping candidates informed throughout the process.
  • Developing talent pools, supporting attraction activity and contributing to recruitment reporting and service improvements.

What we’d be looking for from you

  • Experience coordinating end-to-end recruitment and managing multiple vacancies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience advising hiring managers, with the confidence to influence and constructively challenge when needed.
  • Experience applying Ofsted safer recruitment processes and administering pre-employment checks.
  • Strong organisational, communication and customer service skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using Talos or a similar applicant tracking system, alongside Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • A practical, solution-focused approach and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Experience within an in-house recruitment team, particularly in housing, social care, the charity sector or another regulated environment, would be advantageous.

Why join Centrepoint

In return for your efforts you’ll receive a competitive salary, excellent training and development, and a host of staff benefits including:

  • 25 days of annual leave per year, rising by one day per year to a maximum of 27 days.
  • Healthcare cash plan covering the costs of a wide range of medical treatment, including dental, optical, complementary and alternative therapies.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Employer pension contributions of 5%.
  • Access to the Cycle 2 Work loan scheme.
  • An interest-free travel loan.

At Centrepoint we challenge the discrimination within society that contributes to youth homelessness, and we are just as committed to fairness and equality within Centrepoint itself. We are passionate about ensuring all of our colleagues are made to feel included in the work we do and that we value the rich diversity within the organisation.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, belief in any religion and none, gender identity, ethnic origin, class, sexuality, nationality, appearance, unrelated criminal activities, disability, responsibility for dependents, part‑time or shift workers, being HIV positive or living with AIDS, lived experience of homelessness or using young people’s services and any other matter which causes a person to be treated with injustice.

Centrepoint’s policy is to recruit, employ and promote people on the basis of their suitability for the work to be performed, and to this end, our aim is to ensure that all applicants, employees and volunteers receive equal treatment.

Our approach to applications

We recognise that candidates may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support their applications. We do ask that all examples and statements included must be truthful, accurate and based on your own experience.
