Take ownership of site maintenance, engineering improvements and reliability in a varied, hands-on manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to join a well-established production environment where engineering plays a central role in keeping people, equipment and processes performing safely and effectively. You will work across a varied mix of CNC machinery, woodworking and metal fabrication equipment, automated production systems and wider site facilities. This role offers more than maintaining existing processes. You will have the freedom to strengthen maintenance systems, improve reliability and help shape how engineering is managed across the site.
The Opportunity:
- Taking hands-on ownership of planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery and site facilities, minimising downtime and improving reliability.
- Diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control systems, carrying out repairs and coordinating specialist support where required.
- Developing and managing the planned preventative maintenance programme, while maintaining accurate equipment, job history and maintenance records through the CMMS.
- Coordinating contractors, statutory inspections and engineering compliance requirements, including LOLER, pressure systems, LEV, fixed-wire testing and servicing.
- Driving practical site improvements, from machinery modifications and material handling solutions to electrical installations, equipment relocations and workflow improvements.
- Supporting the development of an engineering apprentice, helping to build capability while working closely with operational, compliance and health and safety colleagues.
Your work will directly contribute to improved equipment reliability, safer working practices and a stronger, more proactive engineering function.
About You:
- Time-served or equivalent experience within multi-skilled maintenance engineering in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control systems as you will be the Maintenance expert onsite.
- Must be electrically qualified with either 17th or 18th edition together with experience planning and completing small-scale electrical installation work.
- Experience coordinating contractors, statutory inspections and engineering compliance requirements.
- Confidence developing practical engineering procedures, including risk assessments, SOPs, safe systems of work and lock-out/tag-out processes.
- The ability to work independently, organise competing priorities and take ownership of engineering decisions.
The Benefits and Package:
- £50,000 to £55,000 per annum.
- Permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week.
- Day shift pattern, Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:30 and Friday 07:30 to 13:30.
- 22 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, giving 30 days in total.
- Paid overtime available to boost earnings.
- Company pension scheme.
- Subsidised on-site meals.
- Cycle to Work scheme.
- Company-funded training relevant to the role.
- Free on-site parking.
