Consortium Professional Recruitment are pleased to be working with our client to recruit a Shipping Assistant for a fast-paced operational environment supporting domestic and international customer shipments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous shipping or export administration experience who enjoys working collaboratively and thrives in a structured, detail-focused role. The successful Shipping Assistant will play an important role in ensuring customer orders are prepared, documented and despatched accurately and on time.
As a Shipping Assistant you'll play a key role in:
- Preparing accurate shipping and export documentation including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, CMR documentation, EUR1 certificates and Certificates of Origin.
- Coordinating collections and deliveries with freight forwarders and carriers to ensure shipments are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Working closely with Warehouse and Sales teams to ensure customer shipping instructions and export requirements are followed correctly.
- Using internal shipping systems and portals to process shipments and maintain accurate shipping records.
- Supporting customers and internal colleagues with shipping-related queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Applying knowledge of Incoterms and shipping procedures to help minimise delays and maintain compliance standards.
Your work will directly contribute to delivering a smooth and reliable shipping process that supports customer satisfaction and international business operations.
We're looking for someone who can bring:
- Previous experience within a shipping, logistics or export administration environment.
- A practical understanding of Incoterms and customs procedures.
- Experience preparing shipping and export documentation with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Confident communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, freight forwarders and internal teams.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and experience using shipping portals or ERP systems.
- A reliable and team-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
Desirable experience includes international customs declarations and working with chambers of commerce or international customers.
