Consortium Professional Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with our client to recruit a new Category Buyer to join their established procurement team. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in a business committed to innovation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
As Category Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting procurement strategy and execution. You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders and suppliers to deliver high-impact cost-saving projects and support the development of new products.
The Opportunity:
- Driving year-on-year cost reductions aligned with strategic KPIs
- Delivering best-in-class Total Cost of Acquisition across categories
- Developing and implementing commodity strategies to strengthen supply chain performance
- Supporting the introduction of new products in collaboration with Quality and Supply Chain teams
- Conducting risk assessments and shaping robust supplier contingency plans
Your work will directly contribute to supplier innovation, enhanced operational efficiency and long-term commercial sustainability.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who can bring:
- A minimum of 3 years’ procurement experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Proven track record of achieving cost savings and supplier performance improvements
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing supplier portfolios over £2 million
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both internal and external
Desirable: CIPS qualification or working towards, experience with lean manufacturing principles.
You will be highly organised, results-driven and confident influencing at all levels. Your ability to foster supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement will be key to your success.
