This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional to take ownership of an established customer base while identifying and developing new business opportunities across the North & East Yorkshire region.

With flexibility to be based from one of three locations, you will manage your own diary and workload, spending time with customers, responding to enquiries and orders, strengthening existing relationships and developing opportunities to grow the client base.

The Role

As Area Sales Manager, you will play a key role in driving growth across your territory.

You will manage and develop existing customer relationships while proactively identifying opportunities to secure new business.

Customer service will be at the heart of your approach.

You will take the time to understand your customers’ businesses and requirements, ensuring they receive a responsive, knowledgeable and professional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop existing customer accounts while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships through regular face-to-face meetings with established clients.
  • Take a proactive approach to business development, including prospecting, following up leads and identifying cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
  • Negotiating contracts and pricing to secure commercially beneficial, long-term customer relationships.
  • Respond effectively to customer enquiries and support the management of orders.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the existing client base across your territory.
  • Work closely with internal teams, attending regular meetings and sharing customer and market insights.
  • Manage your own diary, workload and territory effectively.

About You

We are looking for a confident, commercially minded sales professional who enjoys building relationships and taking ownership of their territory.

  • Previous experience in an Area Sales Manager, Field Sales or similar customer-facing sales role.
  • Experience within electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building products or a related sector would be highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation, key account management and relationship-building skills.
  • A confident, professional and personable approach when dealing with customers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and identify opportunities for growth.
