About Us

Tarleton Group Practice is a long established, semi rural training practice with a very friendly, supportive culture and a strong track record of retaining our own trainees – 5 out of our 6 partners trained here and later applied to join the partnership. We are a low home visit demand practice, with visits kept to a manageable level and supported by our wider team. We are conveniently located between Preston and Southport, offering easy access from both directions, with bike storage on site for those who prefer to cycle.

Our team includes:

  • 6 committed GP partners
  • A full complement of ARRS staff and multi skilled clinicians
  • Strong, experienced administrative and management support

We are a nurturing practice aiming to deliver consistently high quality care for our patients, while looking after our staff and maintaining a sustainable workload. Our patient population is diverse, including:

  • Elderly patients and farm workers
  • A high number of migrant workers employed in local fruit and vegetable production

We are high performing in QOF and enhanced services, and we actively seek to maximise appropriate opportunities to ensure we remain a flourishing, resilient GP practice. Our last CQC inspection was “Good” in all domains, reflecting our stable, well organised systems and commitment to safe, effective care. In line with the NHS direction of travel, we have recently moved to a total triage model to reduce the cognitive load on GPs and improve access. This is already proving very successful and is well supported by our MDT and admin teams.

We place a strong emphasis on being a supportive training and development environment, making this an excellent role for:

  • Newly qualified GPs starting out in their careers
  • GPs returning to practice after a break, who may value a structured, educationally focused setting

We actively welcome and nurture upskilling, including:

  • GP trainers within the partnership
  • Supervision of Physician Associate students
  • Opportunities to develop and/or participate in ring pessary clinics
  • Opportunities for joint injections and other minor procedures, depending on interest and experience

We also value informal team connection, with:

  • A tea/coffee break in the morning
  • A regular 2.30pm GP get together for coffee and catch up, to debrief, share learning and support each other

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Salaried GP to join our forward thinking team under the NHS Practice Level GP Reimbursement Scheme. This scheme enables us to expand our clinical capacity and continue to provide high quality, continuous care to our local community. You will be working within a well structured, supportive environment with realistic expectations and a strong emphasis on teamwork, safety and professional development.

Key features of the clinical set up:

  • 15 minute appointments as standard – a major plus, allowing safer, more thoughtful consultations and time for documentation
  • A clearly defined, capped number of patient contacts per session, aligned with safe working guidance
  • Generally low home visit demand, with visits shared fairly and supported by the wider team

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay: Attractive sessional rate of up to £10,500 per session (DOE) within the reimbursement scheme envelope.
  • Flexible working: Session times and working days can be tailored to support a healthy work–life balance.
  • Manageable workload: Capped patient contacts per session
  • 15 minute appointments for all routine GP contacts
  • Generally low home visit demand
  • A robust total triage system designed to reduce unnecessary cognitive load on GPs
  • Built in tea/coffee break in the morning and a 2.30pm GP coffee catch up
  • Full ARRS team including Clinical Pharmacists, Care Coordinators, First Contact Physiotherapists and other multi skilled clinicians
  • Strong admin and management support to minimise non clinical burden
  • Fully reimbursed medical indemnity
  • 6 weeks’ annual leave (pro rata)
  • 1 week’s paid study leave (pro rata)
  • Bike storage available on site

Development & training:

  • Active support for CPD and portfolio development
  • Clinical supervision and mentoring available
  • Excellent environment for newly qualified GPs or those returning after a break, with a strong training ethos
  • Opportunities to be involved in training (GPSTs, PA students and other learners)
  • Opportunities to develop skills in areas such as ring pessary clinics, joint injections and other special interests, depending on your goals

The Candidate

You should be:

  • A fully qualified GP with MRCGP (or equivalent)
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
  • Included on the NHS Medical Performers List
  • Able to meet the additionality and eligibility criteria for the NHS GP Reimbursement Scheme

We are looking for someone who:

  • Values high quality, patient centred care
  • Works well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Is keen to contribute to a positive, supportive practice culture
  • Is interested in developing their skills within a training, teaching and QOF/enhanced services focused environment
