The Ryan Medical Centre is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our established, forward-thinking practice. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care to our patient population while contributing to the ongoing development of the practice. We are a well-organised, patient-centred practice with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
The Ryan Medical Centre is an accredited training practice, hosting Year 3 medical students from Lancaster Medical School and providing training for ST2 & ST3 GP trainees. Sessions: 2–4 per week
Contract: 1-year fixed term, Extension: Potential to extend subject to funding via the GP Reimbursement Scheme
Job Summary: The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for providing high-quality medical services to the practice population in line with the GMS contract. You will adhere to General Medical Council standards for Good Medical Practice, contribute to effective practice management, and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities / Clinical Duties:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care
- Manage acute presentations and long-term conditions
- Provide services in line with the GMS contract and prescribing guidance
- Participate in duty doctor rotas
- Participate in Home Visits
- Manage own admin lists
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
- Support QOF delivery, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to clinical governance, significant event reviews, and RCA processes
Administrative & Organisational Duties:
- Process referrals, repeat prescriptions, and associated admin tasks
- Attend and contribute to practice meetings
- Support partners in achieving strategic aims and service development
- Adhere to practice policies, protocols, and regional directives
Education, Training & Development:
- Support the training of medical students and GP trainees
- Participate in mentorship and share learning with colleagues
- Commit to CPD, appraisal, and revalidation
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Professional Standards:
- Uphold confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Promote Equality, Diversity & Inclusion principles
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct and communication

Person Specification:
Essential:
- Fully qualified GP with CCT
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Inclusion on the National Performers List
- Appropriate medical indemnity
- Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to high-quality patient care and professional development
Desirable:
- MRCGP
- Experience in primary care
- Experience with QOF, audits, and clinical governance
- EMIS experience
