The Regional HR Executive supports Japanese expatriates across the South East Asia region, acting as a key liaison between Japan HQ, regional offices, and business divisions, and is responsible for implementing HR initiatives in regional offices in line with instructions from Japan HQ and RHQ. The role focuses on expatriate administration, and on compensation and benefits support, wellbeing engagement, compliance reporting, and regional cost governance for regional offices.

Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Support

  • Support the administration of salaries, allowances, and benefits for Japanese expatriates across the region.
  • Interpret compensation and benefits information and communicate clearly to expatriates and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with regional expatriate personnel cost analysis, including fixed and variable compensation, allowances, and benefits.
  • Support consistent understanding and application of expatriate benefit policies across different countries.
  • Support ensuring accurate and transparent HR related cost information and analysis for RHQ and regional office to support RHQ management decision‑making.

Mobility & Expatriation Framework

  • Prepare and present mobility‑related analysis to management, including assignment costs, immigration restrictions, and tax implications, and assist Japan HQ with updates on regional rules and regulations related to expatriates.
  • Support holistic mobility planning, balancing organizational requirements with expatriate experience and wellbeing considerations.
  • Contribute to the review and refinement of mobility packages to ensure cost effectiveness, compliance, and employee experience.

Medical Cost Containment

  • Develop and present proposals aimed at containing rising medical costs across the region.
  • Review and consider industry practices and benchmarks related to medical cost management and cost‑containment strategies.
  • Work with stakeholders to promote sustainable and compliant medical benefit practices.

HR Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit HR reports, including EGMAS and headcount reports, ensuring accurate employee categorization.
  • Maintain country‑specific benefits documentation in alignment with local regulations and regional policies.
  • Ensure benefits data is accurately recorded and maintained in HR systems (e.g. Workday).
  • Provide clear and concise summaries of regional benefits and policies to internal stakeholders.

Corporate Liaison & Expatriate Support

  • Serve as the primary corporate liaison for Japanese expatriates across the South East Asia region.
  • Provide end‑to‑end administrative support for Japanese expatriates, including arrival, assignment management, and return processes to Japan HQ.
  • Understand and translate expectations from Japan HQ and business divisions into clear and actionable guidance for regional offices.
  • Provide MD support for various personnel measures (target interviews, promotions, assessments, etc with Japan HQ).
  • Engage Japanese expatriates to strengthen morale and provide ongoing support for wellbeing, including mental and emotional health needs.
  • Monitor compliance with Japan HQ policies and regional requirements, report findings to Japan HQ, and propose remediation actions where gaps are identified.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant HR experience, with exposure to expatriate management, compensation & benefits, or regional HR operations preferred.
  • Experience with project management, managing competing priorities and managing to tight timelines.
  • Practical experience supporting compensation, benefits, or expatriate administration is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Japanese is essential, as this role requires interacting with Japan HQ and Japanese expats.
  • Ability to translate expectations, policies, and guidance from Japan HQ into clear, practical information for regional stakeholders.
  • Sensitive and empathetic approach when supporting employee wellbeing, morale, and mental stress‑related matters, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and timelines effectively.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Occasional travel may be needed (mostly across South East Asia).
