Following recent structural change and increased investment, the organisation is entering a new phase focused on innovation, technical modernisation, and more joined-up collaboration across teams.
The role forms part of the Senior Management Team and will be expected to partner with other senior stakeholders across the business to align technology and commercial goals. Collaboration across business, operations, and support teams will be essential.
As Software Engineering Manager, you will play a strategic role in driving this transformation—supporting the migration to Azure, embedding DevOps principles, and developing people, platforms, and processes in line with long-term business goals. You will lead a 21-person cross-functional engineering team, with direct reports from the Lead Developer and Lead Analyst. The environment is supportive, agile, and evolving, with a clear ambition to create a more unified development and operations model.
You will contribute directly to technical strategy while maintaining visibility across both legacy and greenfield projects. The company is embracing change, making this an ideal environment for someone who enjoys influencing across teams, embedding best practices, and supporting others through transformation.
Key responsibilities include managing developers, test analysts, and infrastructure engineers, and providing both day-to-day and strategic leadership across multiple product streams. You will work closely with the two senior leads to ensure consistent delivery and cross-team collaboration, while also driving the cultural and technical adoption of DevOps.
You will be expected to guide the transition to Microsoft Azure, support architectural decisions, and lead initiatives that modernise systems and infrastructure. There will be significant opportunity to shape both new platform development and enhancements to existing systems.
The current technology stack includes Angular on the frontend and .NET / .NET Core (C#) on the backend, supported by REST APIs. Infrastructure is hybrid but undergoing migration to Azure. Tooling includes Git and Octopus Deploy. Agile delivery processes are in place, and DevOps practices are being actively developed.
If you are a collaborative and forward-thinking leader looking to make a meaningful impact in a growing technology environment, this is an outstanding opportunity to shape engineering strategy and delivery at a crucial time. You’ll bring a mindset of continuous improvement and a genuine passion for modernising processes, tools, and platforms.
