Are you passionate about crafting beautiful, functional front-end experiences directly in the browser? Do you thrive when building from scratch, with no frameworks or pre‑built UI kits limiting your creativity? We’re working with an established SaaS company embarking on an exciting journey to reimagine how its products look, feel, and function. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, high-impact Product Design team at the very start of a greenfield project, creating a living, framework-free design system that will set the visual and behavioural standards for its entire product suite.

As the Senior UX Engineer, you’ll work hand‑in‑hand with a Product Designer to turn high-fidelity designs into production-ready, reusable UI components using native browser technologies. You’ll be responsible for establishing a clean, maintainable, and scalable design foundation that other teams will build on for years to come.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Building a new, living design system using HTML5, CSS3, and ES6+ JavaScript, without relying on frameworks or component libraries.
  • Creating Web Components (custom elements with Shadow DOM) that encapsulate structure, style, and behaviour.
  • Translating pixel-perfect designs into semantic, accessible, and responsive browser‑native implementations.
  • Developing reusable components and patterns that will form the UI source of truth for multiple product teams.
  • Writing clear, high-quality documentation to ensure the system is easy to understand, adopt, and maintain.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Designers and other stakeholders to refine and evolve the design system.

What we’re looking for:

  • Expert‑level skills in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Proven experience building UI components without frameworks, working directly with the DOM.
  • Strong knowledge of Web Components, including Shadow DOM and custom elements.
  • An excellent eye for detail and the ability to turn designs into faithful, production-quality interfaces.
  • A solid understanding of accessibility (WCAG), semantic markup, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience documenting components, usage guidelines, and interaction patterns.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with design tokens and systems and working closely with design tools such as Figma.
