The Opportunity We are seeking a relationship-focused People & Culture Business Partner to work closely with senior leaders and drive meaningful people outcomes across CPP. Joining our high-performing P&C team spanning Business Partnering, Organisational Development, Employee Relations and Talent Acquisition, you will play a critical role in embedding yourself within your portfolio and becoming a trusted advisor to leaders at all levels. In this true partnering role, you will build strong, credible relationships to proactively support workforce planning, talent and succession strategies, and leadership capability uplift. You will provide confident guidance through complex industrial and employee relations matters, while translating business strategy into practical, high-impact people initiatives that strengthen performance and culture. Supported by deep specialist expertise across the broader P&C function, you will be empowered to focus on what matters most — delivering the People Plan, enhancing leadership capability, and navigating complex workforce challenges across both blue-collar operational teams and corporate support functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted business partner to operational and corporate leaders, building strong relationships and embedding yourself within the business.
- Provide expert advice on industrial and employee relations matters, including interpretation of Enterprise Agreements and supporting a blue-collar workforce.
- Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organisational structure reviews and succession planning.
- Support the delivery of the broader People Plan across your portfolios.
- Coach leaders to build capability in performance management, leadership effectiveness and people decision-making.
- Lead and support complex people projects and change initiatives.
- Manage and oversee global mobility matters.
- Work autonomously to resolve issues while leveraging specialist support (ER, OD, TA) where required.
- Collaborate with a connected national P&C team to ensure alignment and consistency in approach.
Desired Skills and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Mandatory: 5+ years’ experience in a Business Partnering or Senior HR Advisory role
- Mandatory: Experience within an industrial or heavy industry environment (construction, mining, energy or similar)
- Demonstrated experience interpreting Enterprise Agreements and supporting blue-collar workforces
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trusted and enduring relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Exposure to complex organisational and workforce challenges.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders at all levels.
- A proactive, “go-getter” mindset — someone who builds credibility and actively embeds themselves within the business.
- Confidence to operate autonomously while knowing when to leverage internal expertise.
- Maturity, sound judgement and the ability to navigate sensitive or complex people issues.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline.
