We’re looking for a Technical Author to join a specialist team supporting high-profile defence programmes. This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on with advanced mechanical systems and contribute directly to mission-critical projects.
The Role
As a Technical Author, you’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and subject matter experts to produce high-quality technical documentation. You’ll play a key role in translating complex engineering data, including drawings and standards, into clear, usable content for end users and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather information directly from engineers and technical teams
- Interpret design drawings, specifications, and industry standards
- Develop accurate, clear, and user-focused technical documentation
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Support documentation across customer sites, including occasional overseas travel
- Identify and highlight opportunities for additional business value
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Mechanical and/or Engineering background
- Ability to interpret detailed engineering information and present it clearly
- Excellent written English and attention to detail
- Strong collaboration skills within multi-skilled teams
- Practical experience with MS Office and documentation tools
Desirable:
- Formal technical qualifications
- Experience working with heavy armour or defence platforms
