The position of Project Engineer is suited to an experienced Microsoft cloud and infrastructure engineer/consultant who has previously worked within a managed service provider (MSP) or customer-facing technical services environment.
The role is responsible for delivering Modern Workplace, Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, endpoint management, cyber security, and hybrid infrastructure projects for customers. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently on complex customer engagements, combining strong technical delivery with commercial awareness, documentation discipline, and professional judgement.
Working with the Project Team Lead, the Project Engineer will scope, plan, implement, and hand over technical projects proficiently and within budget. The role may also include producing implementation plans, contributing to solution design, supporting junior engineers, liaising with customers and third-party vendors, and ensuring solutions are secure, supportable, and aligned to customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver customer IT projects professionally, securely, and within agreed scope, timescales, and budget.
- Lead discovery, workshops, implementation planning, migration readiness, and handover activities.
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, licensing considerations, and blockers, escalating where required.
- Produce clear implementation plans, deployment notes, configuration records, risk updates, and handover documentation.
Experience:
- Previous experience working for a managed service provider or in a customer-facing technical consultancy role.
- Previous experience delivering Microsoft 365, Azure, cloud migration, infrastructure, or modern workplace projects.
- Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, and Microsoft 365 tenant configuration.
