The EMEAA team is a small but highly capable and collaborative group, primarily based in London, with team members located across China, Germany, and South Africa. The team works closely across regions, combining deep technical expertise with strong communication and shared standards to deliver complex, cross-border forensic engagements with consistency and impact.

For an experienced managerial position within Forensic Investigation and Expert Witness Services (EMEAA), you will bring 6–12+ years of proven industry experience and play a central role in leading and executing complex forensic investigations, data collections, and preservation strategies across global litigation, regulatory, and corporate matters. This role provides the opportunity to combine your hands-on technical experience with leadership responsibility, allowing you to stay close to the technical detail while shaping delivery and strategy. It is well suited to professionals already operating in a hands-on role at managerial level. This is a hybrid role based in our London office.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for overseeing and executing end-to-end forensic engagements, ensuring the highest standards of technical integrity, legal defensibility, and operational excellence across a wide range of data sources and environments.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor, you will guide both internal and external stakeholders through complex forensic challenges, shaping defensible strategies for data preservation, investigation, and analysis.
  • You will work directly with senior legal teams, executives, regulators, and external counsel, translating complex technical matters into clear, actionable guidance.
  • This is a client-facing role. You will manage expectations, set direction, and ensure successful execution, particularly on sensitive matters involving senior executives, critical business operations, or regulatory scrutiny.
  • Supported by a Team Lead, you will provide oversight of project delivery, ensuring that senior analysts are appropriately guided and supported to deliver work to the required technical and quality standards.

Client Engagement, Project Leadership & Consulting

  • Lead strategic discussions with clients, acting as a primary advisor and providing expert guidance on data collection, preservation, investigative methodologies, and forensic strategy.
  • Conduct data mapping and forensic scoping activities, identifying relevant systems, data sources, risks, and dependencies at the outset of engagements.
  • Independently manage projects end-to-end, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Balance multiple concurrent matters, maintaining control over scope, resources and timelines.
  • Identify delivery or technical risks early and escalate appropriately to the Team Lead, ensuring timely decision making and risk mitigation.
  • Work closely with international teams to ensure consistency of approach, quality, and defensible methodology across regions.
  • Represent the firm confidently in client meetings, regulatory discussions, and industry forums.

Technical Expertise

  • In a managerial role you will contribute directly to the day-to-day workings of the team, combining hands-on delivery with technical leadership and strategic direction.
  • You will bring hands-on expertise across a wide range of ESI sources, including:
  • Cloud forensics, with hands-on collection experience across Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Azure, including scoping and defensible preservation.
  • Mobile device forensics, with hands-on collection experience using advanced tools such as Cellebrite Premium and Magnet GreyKey, including handling of third-party application data.
  • Computer forensics, with hands-on collection experience of logical and physical acquisition from macOS and Windows systems.
  • File system expertise, including a strong understanding of common file systems (e.g. NTFS, APFS, HFS+, FAT/exFAT) and their forensic implications for data interpretation and collection.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving, with experience navigating complex issues relating to data integrity, preservation, extraction failures and encryption.

On-Site Collections & Travel

  • Conduct and oversee domestic and international on-site data collections, involving senior executives, sensitive matters, or time-critical situations.
  • Operate confidently in unfamiliar and high-pressure environments, adapting to different business cultures while maintaining authority, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Attend the London office 1–2 days per week, supporting collaboration, leadership presence, and client delivery.
  • Assist with or oversee both local and international on-site collections as required, including short-notice engagements.

Team Leadership, Mentorship & Quality Control

  • Play a key role in setting the tone for the team.
  • Assist in the development of senior analysts, setting clear expectations and driving professional growth.
  • Act as a technical escalation point, supporting analysts with complex forensic challenges.
  • Provide mentorship and hands-on guidance, helping build depth, confidence, and capability across the team.
  • Conduct quality reviews and actively promote forensic best practices and defensible methodologies.

Development & Growth

  • While this is not a developmental or step-up role, the position offers meaningful professional growth for experienced forensic practitioners who want to deepen their impact and influence.
  • Further develop your expert-level technical capability by leading complex, high-profile, and cross-border forensic engagements.
  • Strengthen your client advisory and consulting skills, working directly with a variety of senior legal teams, executives, and regulators.
  • Play a role in shaping forensic strategy, workflows, and best practices across the EMEAA region.
  • Play an active role in testing, developing, and refining forensic workflows, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency, quality, and defensibility across the practice.
  • Contribute to the design and validation of new forensic approaches, including emerging data sources, platforms, and technologies.
  • Be supported in maintaining and advancing industry-recognised certifications, alongside continued learning aligned to evolving forensic and eDiscovery trends.

Role progression is merit-based, assessed on delivery impact, leadership capability, and consistent performance over time, rather than length of service. There are no fixed hierarchies or artificial blockers to progression, advancement is driven by demonstrated capability, contribution, and readiness for increased responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on technical experience, including direct involvement in forensic data collections, preservation, and investigative workflows across cloud, computer and mobile sources, with the ability to confidentially execute and troubleshoot complex forensic tasks.
  • Strong consulting and client-management skills, with the confidence to lead discussions, set direction, and make decisions.
  • Ability to translate technical forensic detail into clear, strategic, and commercially relevant advice for clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative by nature, able to work effectively with team members across regions, disciplines, and seniority levels to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
  • A strong investigative mindset, demonstrating curiosity, critical thinking, and the ability to assess evidence, identify risks, and follow lines of enquiry.
  • Comfortable working independently.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in forensic computing or equivalent practical experience.
  • Industry-recognised certifications (e.g. EnCE, CFCE, CCE) or demonstrable equivalent expertise.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including maintaining technical relevance as forensic tools, platforms, and data sources evolve.
  • Willingness to maintain and pursue further certifications or specialist training aligned to the needs of the practice and emerging forensic capabilities.

Why This Role Is Different

  • We do not operate a “corporate manager” model. Managerial employees are expected to retain and continually develop hands-on technical expertise, maintain a deep understanding of forensic detail, contribute directly to the day-to-day delivery of forensic work, and actively shape forensic strategy.
  • Within the EMEAA forensic team, roles remain technically grounded through Senior Director level and beyond. Leadership positions are built on technical credibility and proven delivery experience, not managerial oversight alone.
  • This structure ensures a clear line of technical expertise and mentorship above every role, providing ongoing guidance, challenge, and support throughout your career progression.
  • We strive to stay ahead of the curve in an ever-evolving forensic landscape, continuously testing, refining, and adopting emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • This is not innovation for its own sake; it is about delivering accurate, defensible, and effective forensic outcomes in complex scenarios where others fall short.
  • We are looking for like-minded individuals who are curious, technically driven, and motivated to understand systems beneath the surface.
  • Individuals who challenge assumptions, validate tools and processes, and take pride in doing forensic work properly and defensibly.
  • We value computer forensic professionals who are passionate about core computer forensics principles and understand that true computer forensic expertise is grounded in methodology and analysis, not simply pressing buttons in tools.
