We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to oversee and maintain our organization's global network infrastructure. As a Senior Network Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our network systems to ensure efficient and reliable connectivity. You will also troubleshoot network issues, manage network security, and implement network upgrades. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge and excellent problem-solving skills. The candidate must be able to support a Global 24x7 operation. This is a hybrid role, based in our London office.
Responsibilities
- To ensure optimal performance and reliability, develop and implement network designs, including topology, protocols, and network security measures.
- Regularly monitor network systems and proactively identify and resolve network issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, such as firewalls, switches, routers, load balancers, intrusion detection systems, and access controls, to protect sensitive company data from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Assess network performance, identify areas for improvement, and plan and implement network upgrades and expansions to meet the organization's growing needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, processes, and procedures to facilitate troubleshooting, maintenance, and future network enhancements.
- Take responsibility for projects and solutions within the larger business initiative.
- Research and evaluate emerging network technologies, hardware, and software.
- Track and maintain hardware and software inventory.
- Collaborate with vendors to procure network equipment, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of services and support.
- Diagnose and resolve network issues, including hardware and software failures, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks, using network diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Analyze network performance data and implement strategies to optimize network performance, such as bandwidth utilization, network throughput, and response times.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and strategies to ensure network availability and data backup during network failures or natural disasters.
Additional Knowledge/skills
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, BGP, LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and wireless networks.
- Proficiency in network management tools and technologies, such as network monitoring systems, configuration management, and performance analysis tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, access controls, and encryption techniques.
- Knowledge of network virtualization technologies, such as SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and virtual private networks (VPNs).
- Familiarity with network performance optimization techniques, such as Quality of Service (QoS) and traffic shaping.
- Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, and F5 network technologies.
- Experience with cloud-based networking solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Professional certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), are highly desirable.
- At least 5 years proven experience managing a global network infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and network operating systems.
- Experience with global network design and implementation, including network architecture and capacity planning.
- Strong understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) framework and best practices.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to network security and data privacy, such as GDPR and HIPAA.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to direct multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and fast-paced IT environment and capable of motivating teams.
