Overview: The Manager– Digital Forensics & Expert Services role leads, conducts, and assists in data preservation and digital investigations in complex litigation cases by leveraging knowledge of digital forensic tools, technology, and protocols related to the collection and management of electronically stored information (ESI) from a wide variety of data sources. A focus of this role will be supporting the EMEAA team.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during forensic collection or forensic analysis engagements, explaining the process and providing regular updates.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs, scope of investigation, and collection requirements.
- Educate clients on data preservation strategies to minimize the risk of data spoliation or loss during investigations.
- Perform investigative analysis activities for a variety of digital devices, computers, storage media, servers, networks, cloud-based services, and mobile devices.
- Perform remote or onsite collections in a defensible manner from a wide array of ESI, including: computers, mobile devices, media storage devices, servers, networks, social media, and cloud-based services.
- Attend Consilio office forensic lab to leverage infrastructure/job requirements, as needed.
- Support EMEAA practice lead regarding regional on-site collections, including international travel.
- Perform data extractions, restoration, and data conversion to prepare data for processing and hosting.
- Leverage experience with forensic tools, including Encase, FTK, Axiom, Digital Inspector, Oxygen, and Cellebrite to carry out forensic investigations and reporting.
- Display sound knowledge and expertise of common operating systems and applications and exhibit an aptitude for problem-solving in a methodical manner consistent with forensic protocols.
- Follow Digital Forensic good practice methodologies (ISO17025 standard and ACPO Principles of Digital Evidence) in all aspects of the forensic and eDiscovery workflow.
- Be responsive to internal and external communications.
- Make well-reasoned decisions “on the spot” and execute on the plan.
- Stay current on emerging trends, tools, and technologies in forensic collections and analysis to continuously improve processes and knowledge share.
- Act as a mentor to consultants.
- Lead and/or support scoping calls for new matters.
- Lead/Ownership of day-to-day activities for DFES projects, as assigned.
- Lead data collections calls with Client IT contacts/Counsel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in forensic computing or equivalent relevant experience.
- 6-8 years of progressively responsible experience in related forensic and consulting roles.
- Strong proficiency in digital forensics tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, X1 Social Discovery, Cellebrite, etc.).
- Ability to clearly explain technical analysis processes and data collection methodologies to clients and legal teams.
- Familiarity with rules of evidence, ACPO guidelines, ISO17025, and Chain of Custody.

- High degree of comfort operating in a client-facing environment and meeting the needs of clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and relationships with clients while addressing sensitive or confidential matters.

- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative small team environment.
- Willingness to handle urgent collections or forensic investigations with tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple investigations, track project timelines, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in data acquisition, analysis, and preservation from various digital platforms (e.g., computers, mobile devices, cloud services).
- Familiarity providing expert guidance in legal proceedings.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities to solve complex forensic cases.
- Manage workload independently and to meet investigation deadlines and client needs.
- Availability for short notice or weekend travel when necessary.
