We’re Conscious Solutions, the UK’s leading digital agency for the legal sector. We help make law firms more successful online and we’re looking for the next member of our growing team.

As the market leaders in our sector, we have over 300 clients across the UK and internationally. We’re generous, transparent, inquisitive, collaborative and empowering; values that guide how we work with clients and support each other as a team.

Our Digital Content team plays a crucial role in helping law firms communicate clearly, consistently and effectively across their websites, PR campaigns and social channels, supporting wider SEO and marketing performance.

About you

You will have at least two years of commercial experience programming in a server-side web development world. Database skills and a good understanding of security issues and risks are also important. You will be interested in learning and be willing to take on new challenges in a flexible way.

Main Responsibilities

  • You will work with the other members of the team to develop API based services and support the hosting platform.
  • You will also be doing some data analysis under the guidance of the more experienced team members, to support the decisions of the rest of the business.

Required Skills

  • Good database skills, preferably with PostgreSQL (but MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, etc, are ok).
  • Good Linux command line skills or similar with a commercial Unix operating system.
  • Experience with the following is desirable, but not essential:
  • Experience of data design, third normal form, and database tuning for performance.
  • Experience of developing with the Apache and nginx web servers.
  • Experience with X.509 and any part of the PKI certificate infrastructure.
  • Experience of source control systems, such as GitLab and Subversion.
  • Experience with Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) for distributing software.

We understand that not everybody will apply for a job unless they meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t perfectly align with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

This view aligns with two of our values, which are to be empowering to members of our team and to collaborate with them to ensure they can excel in their role.

Salary & Benefits

  • Dependent on experience but expected to be in the range of £35,000 to £45,000.
  • 25 days holiday + Celebration Day + 8 bank holidays.
  • Contributory Pension (3% from Conscious, 5% from you).
  • Healthcare insurance, life insurance and critical illness protection (all after probation has been passed) including optical and dental cashback plans.
  • Flexible working (we believe work is a thing you do not a place you go).
  • 2 paid days charity work allowance per year.
  • MVP recognition programme with rewards.
  • Long Service rewards and recognition.
  • A staff referral scheme giving you the opportunity to earn up to £400 for recommending a friend.
  • Dog friendly office.
  • 3 month probationary period.
